We pray for the people of our church, our community and our nation. Grant peace and comfort. We pray for the family of George Floyd, who was so horrendously and maliciously treated and cruelly murdered. We pray for all of us who are suffering the hurt and pain of this situation, especially our African American brothers and sisters. We ask, Lord, for your grace pain, but to change the ungodly culture that enabled such a wicked thing to happen.
We pray against the evil forces of racism, injustice and hatred in America and across the world. May these sinful, despicable, destructive, dehumanizing attitudes, actions and spiritual strongholds finally and fully be removed from our land. Let love and justice for all prevail. Change sinful hearts and systems.
Lord, give all of us the grace and power to obey the instructions given by the Holy Spirit and recorded in Romans 12:21 "Do not be overcome by evil, but overcome evil with good." Give all of us the grace and power of the Holy Spirit to live as Jesus taught us to live. Help us to be lights of love, healing and true, lasting transformation in our nation and world. Send us spiritual revival, O Lord.
Lord, heal our people. Lord, heal our land.
In Jesus' name. Amen.
