Student Summer Internship

June 24-August 8, Clarksburg Campus

Students in Grades 9-12

Surge is a seven-week summer experience to equip High School students to pursue God, empower them to build the local church and inspire them to engage their sphere of influence for Jesus. Through this internship, students will have an opportunity to sit in Bible, ministry, and life-skills classes, participate in outreaches, create new friendships and truly develop a deeper relationship with Christ.

Led by experienced ministry leaders, Surge will help provide a valuable experience for all High School Students that desire to take their summer to a new level.

Sundays

The Surge internship falls under the umbrella of Church of the Redeemer. One of the requirements for the Summer is that students would attend one service and
serve another.

Mondays

Students will meet at the Clarksburg Campus.

  • 9:00 am: Offsite campsite shuttle
  • 10:00 am: Devo + Prayer
  • 11:00 am: Bible class
  • 12:00 pm: Lunch ($1 pizza sales)
  • 12:45 pm: Life skills class
  • 1:45 pm: Outreach (offsite locations)
  • 4:30 pm: Shuttle back to home campus
  • 5:00 pm: Pick up time
Wednesdays
  • 4:30 pm: Check in at home campus
  • 5:00 pm: Devo + Prayer
  • 5:30 pm: Campus projects
  • 6:30 pm: Elevate event
  • 8:30 pm: Help tear down
  • 9:00 pm: Pick up time

*Students will attend Elevate activities at their home campus!

Thursdays

Students will meet at the Clarksburg Campus.

  • 9:00 am: Offsite campsite carpool
  • 10:00 am: Devo + Prayer
  • 11:00 am: Ministry workshop
  • 12:00 pm: Lunch
  • 12:45 pm: Binder + memory verse check
  • 1:15 pm: Book discussion
  • 2:15 pm: Surge activity
  • 4:30pm: Carpool back to home campus
  • 5:00 pm: Pick up time
FAQs
How do Shuttles Work?

Shuttles are provided for our Frederick and Gaithersburg Campus. Students must be at the campus by 9:00 am. On the application, please indicate if you will be utilizing this great resource during the summer.

Will Lunches be Provided?

No, Lunches are not provided. However, every Monday there will be pizza for sale ($1). Students will have access to refrigerator, a microwave and a café across the street.

What does Home Campus mean?

Church of the Redeemer is a multi-site campus church, as is the Surge internship. On Wednesdays Students will have a later start at their Home Campus, rather than meeting at Clarksburg Campus to build that Student Campus relationship! Also, Sundays are a Home Campus serve day as well!

What is a Life Skills Class?

Each week there will guest speakers from Church of the Redeemer staff that will be covering various “How To” Class. Such classes will include “How to” create and maintain good friendships, “How To” live in purity, “How To” develop a consistent devotional life and many more!

What is a Binder & Memory Verse Check?

On orientation night student will receive a Binder with weekly Bible Reading and Memory Verses. They will be tested verbally on their Memory Verses and Binder Checks will be graded by Surge Staff on Thursday afternoons.

What are Outreaches?

Outreaches will take place all throughout Frederick and Montgomery County. Shuttles will be provided for students to and from locations for the afternoon. Outreaches will include activities such as: Park Cleaning, water bottle handouts and much more!
